This adorable little guy is Benjamin Homer. He is our newest nephew. He was born on Thursday, January 21. Shortly after he was born, the doctors discovered he had a heart murmur that turned out to be caused by a condition called aortic stenosis (narrowing of the vessel). He was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City to have a balloon procedure done right away. The procedure allowed them to stretch the vessel, but unfortunately it caused there to be a tear in the valve which needs to be repaired. They were going to try and wait a couple months to perform this surgery, as it is very serious, but his condition has worsened and he is scheduled to have open-heart surgery tomorrow morning. Ben is only a week old and his tiny little body has already been through more than most. Please keep him in your prayers!
